Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar

Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar   was an Indian  jurist ,  economist , and  social reformer  who fought economic and social discrimination against the untouchables in  India's  Hindu  society.  Ambedkar served as chairman of the  drafting committee of the Constitution of India, and  Minister of Law and Justice  in the  first cabinet of Jawaharlal Nehru  from 1947 to 1951.  In 1956, he converted to  Buddhism , initiating mass conversions of Dalits. Family and Early Life Ambedkar was born on 14 April 1891 in the town and military cantonment of  Mhow  in the  Central Provinces.  He was the 14th and last child of  Ramji Maloji Sakpal  and Bhimabai Sakpal. His father was a Subedar in the army. His family was of marathi background and he was born in the Mahar(dalit) caste. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel

  Vallabhbhai Jhaverbhai Patel   was born in  Nadiad ,  Kheda district , Gujara t .   He was a successful lawyer. One of  Mahatma Gandhi's  earliest political lieutenants, he organised peasants from  Kheda ,  Borsad , and  Bardoli  in Gujarat in  non-violent   civil disobedience  against the  British Raj , becoming one of the most influential leaders in Gujarat. He  was an Indian statesman. He served as the first deputy  Prime Minister of India  from 1947 to 1950. He was a  barrister  and a senior leader of the  Indian National Congress , who played a leading role in the country's  struggle for independence , guiding its  integration  into a united, independent nation. Subhash Chandra Bose

                                       Subhas Chandra Bose was born  on 23 January 1897 in Cuttack  (what is today the state of  Odisha  in  India , but was then the  Orissa Division of Bengal Province  in  British India) .  Eager to join his five school-going older brothers, Subhas entered the Baptist Mission's Protestant European School in Cuttack.   Family and Early Life His father's name was Janakinath Bose and he was    a successful lawyer and government  pleader. He  was loyal to the government of  British India   and scrupulous about matters of language and the law. His mother was Prabhavati Bose  had her first child at age 14 and 13 children thereafter. Subhas was the ninth child and the sixth son.  The curriculum of his school included English—correctly written and spoken—Latin, the Bible, good manners, British geography, and British History; no Indian languages were taught.  The school's curriculum contrasted with Subhas's home, where only Bengali was spoken.

Mahatma Gandhi

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi   was born on 2 October 1869. He was born and raised in a Hindu family in a coastal town in the state of Gujarat. In India  he was unable to start a successful law practice so he moved to South Africa in 1893 to represent an Indian merchant in a lawsuit. He went on to live in South Africa for 21 years. It was here that Gandhi first employed nonviolent resistance in a campaign for civil rights. In 1915, aged 45, he returned to India and soon set about organising peasants, farmers, and urban labourers to protest against excessive land-tax and discrimination. Family and Early life His father's name was Karamchand Gandhi and he served as the dewan in the Porbandar state of British India. Gandhi's mother's name was Putlibai . He had 3 siblings- Lakshmidas, Raliatbehn and Karsandas. Gandhi was the youngest of them all.  The Indian classics, especially the stories of   Shravana   and king   Harishchandra , had a great impact on Gandhi in his childhood
